EMPLOYMENT
"True charity is not giving bread or money, but providing employment" - Ilkin Santak
Navchetna is founded on the belief that true empowerment of women stems from financial independence. For centuries, women of all generations have had to struggle to be treated as equals. Even today, women continue to be marginalized, resulting in a lack of the required skillset and confidence needed to lead fulfilled lives.
Navchetna aims to create an impact in the area of 'women empowerment' by designing interventions that are focused on skills training & livelihood upliftment.
OUR PROJECTS
TAILORING & STITCHING TRAINING CENTRE
As part of our community-based initiative, Navchetna has set up a Sewing Training Centre to make Uttarakhandi women self-sufficient and confident. This initiative aims to empower women to become entrepreneurs and learn sewing from within the precincts of their homes.
Interested women are further trained in embroidery and thread-work designing. The basic course duration for cutting and sewing is 3 months. We also connect interested beneficiaries to local employers for full-time opportunities.

EMPOWERMENT INTIATIVES THROUGH MAHILA MANGAL DAL
In the presence of Gram Panchayat and Gram Pradhan, Navchetna has reformed the Mahila Mangal Dal of village Ruina with an aim to empower the women by providing financial, legal, and health support.

Navchetna works very closely with the elected representatives to curate a relevant curriculum for the demographic and facilitates education and training of all members on financial and legal matters.
KNITWEAR HANDICRAFTS TRAINING
As part of this initiative, Navchetna ties up with other social enterprises to conduct training sessions on knitwear handlooms and handicrafts. This is done with the objective of improving the livelihood of local women by utilizing locally available fibers in Uttarakhand for making yarn and fabrics for sustainable fashion brands.
TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAMME
The instructors and teachers in our programmes are picked from the village beneficiary group itself. Students that are
interested to pursue a career as trainers are provided with vocational educational training that coaches them with various
teaching methodologies.
Our aim is to provide participants with an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to become trainers in their fields of interest. Once students themselves, a lot of the participants have now become salaried trainers. A few of them, however, also train in exchange for other advanced courses such as English, Computer etc. indicating a gradual embracing of education.
