Navchetna Society is an 80G & 12A certified NGO, focusing on women empowerment & child welfare in rural Uttarakhand, India. Through our work, we aspire to spread our message of hope and compassion. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part towards changing the lives of marginalized communities in Uttarakhand.
OUR MISSION
The lives of struggle in the rural areas of India is a ‘distant reality’ for many of us and we aim to bring these stories closer to the urban homes.
Our mission is to amass individuals from different sections of society and work together towards addressing the biggest societal challenges of education, health and employment.
OUR METHOD
We know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Our model centers around adopting villages with large underserved populations. This model of support prioritises deep impact over broad impact. Through multiple interventions across education, health, and employment, our team strives to make a difference in the lives of the communities residing in these villages.
Since our founding in 2012, we have adopted several villages across Pithoragarh and Munsiyari districts in Uttarakhand. Additionally, we have now initiated projects across several districts in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra..
WHERE WE OPERATE
A majority of our operations are focussed on some of the harshest terrains in the state. Despite the advances in state-level road infrastructure, commuting to and from these villages is a daunting and grueling task - sometimes involving steep hikes and often taking days on end. As a result, most services and opportunities continue to be inaccessible to the residents of these communities.
The communities we serve are largely underserved, with a very high ratio of the population living below the poverty line. They live in abysmal conditions, and with a complete lack of access to support and infrastructure. Looking at the sheer disparity of opportunity and living conditions, we recognize that these communities are in dire need of a helping hand. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part towards changing the lives of marginalized communities in Uttarakhand.
